The DPP through Senior Prosecution Counsel Evelyn Onunga wants Kamande was who crowned Miss Lang’ata women prison Beauty Queen in 2016 sentenced to death for killing her boyfriend  Farid Mohamed at Buruburu estate in 2015.

The DPP says that Kamande should be sentenced to death because she has not shown any remorse after stabbing and killing her boyfriend.

“This court should hand the accused person death sentence for justice to the deceased and his family and also to serve as a lesson to other people,” Onunga told Milimani High Court Judge Jessie Lessit on Wednesday.

The court had earlier found Kamnde guilty of killing Farid.

In her conviction ruling, Justice Lessit said that Kamande who stabbed her boyfriend 22 times acted in malice and that her actions in court proved the same.

Lessit said that the prosecution had proven beyond all reasonable doubt that Kamande committed the offense.

"The prosecution has laid it clear the accused person committed the offense and the stabs that killed the deceased (Farid Mohamed) were not done at ago,” the Judge ruled.

Justice Lessit dismissed the Kamande’s allegations that the deceased tried to rape her before she stabbed him to death.

Lessit said that a doctor’s report presented in court ruled out rape.

In mitigation, Kamande pleaded with the court for leniency.

She told Justice Lessit that she is remorseful and that she has reformed after being remanded at the Lang’ata Women prison for three years.

Kamande also told court that she has been raised by a single parent and that her mother would suffer should the court sentence her to death.

Justice Lessit will sentence the Lang'ata beauty queen on July 19, 2018.

Kamande has been in remand since July 2015.
