The Egyptians unleashed their best players, except Liverpool's Mohamed Salah, who was nursing an injury.

Against all odds, the Harambee Stars of Kenya held their nerves and forced a 1-1 draw with the former AFCON champions.

Here is a break down of how some key players and the manager performed:

Francis Kimanzi 9/10

One thing we have to commend the national team head coach Francis Kimanzi for, is his selection.

He picked a solid starting 11, and got the best out of them particularly in the second half. His tactics allowed the Stars to achieve a solid 1-1 draw and a vital point.

Player Ratings

Joash Onyango 7/10

The Gor Mahia defender was great during the match. He blocked Egypt's strikers, and ensured the scoreline remains 1-1 at the end. His composure at the back was on point.

Victor Wanyama 5/10

Not Wanyama’s best game. His passing and pressing was uncharacteristically off.

Johanna Omolo 8/10

He played like a general in midfield. His technique, tricks, passing and also his ability to read the game was spot on.

Michael Olunga 7/10

Great reaction from Olunga to put the score level. His positioning and movement off the ball was good overall.

Samuel Olwande 8/10

Operating at right back position, Olwande's performance was outstanding. He had some good runs and gave support to the attack when needed.

Ian Otieno 7/10

A part from a scrappy goal he conceded in the first half, Otieno was quite good in goal.

He showed good ball handling throughout, and was decisive with his saves at the end of the match.
