Governors John Nyagarama (Nyamira) and his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae were reportedly asked to leave since the meeting was a 'Luo Nyanza affair' according to an aide to one of the county boss.

"It cannot be said that they were kicked out per se. They were however asked to leave from from the meeting by Senate Minority Leader James Orengo and ODM chairman John Mbadi.

"The two Luo leaders said the president only wanted to meet only Luo Nyanza leaders. However, they later on met the president after the meeting," said the aide who spoke in confidence.

Also asked to leave during  the meeting, the aide added, was National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Jimmy Angwenyi who doubles as Kitutu Chache North MP.

The three leaders along with Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi had travelled to Kisumu to witness President Uhuru Kenyatta's trip, the first to a region considered as opposition turf since 2017 divisive elections.

Mr Nyagarama and Ongwae were scolded by their constituents, who accused them of incompetency and unnecessary trips outside their areas of jurisdiction.

"This is the repercussions of trespassing. The president should have even denied them audience completely. We are tired of insensitive leaders," said Dennis Marube, ODM Youth Leader from Nyamira.
