The meeting was held in Sharon's home in Magare village, Homabay county.

Okong'o is said to have started by saying that the late Sharon was a married woman immediately after he was given the opportunity to speak, forcing some family members to try to stop him.

"I want everybody to know that Sharon was a married woman and she separated with her husband in January,” the uncle said as quoted by the Standard.

Some family members rose to challenge him, noting that he is not their spokesperson, with others threatening to attack him, but he remained uncowed, proceeding amid the boos and jeers.

Brother to Sharon's mother maintained that the second year Medical Records student cannot be buried in the place, calling upon the husband to show up and take her to his place due to cultural reasons.

“The husband has never appeared in this home but we need him because Sharon will not be buried here due to our cultural beliefs,” he is further quoted.

When the situation became untenable, acting Kanyabala Chief Simeon Onano led him off to his car, before he left in a huff.

This comes only days after Sharon's father Douglas Otieno disowned him as the family spokesperson after he made an attempt to speak on behalf of the family on Friday.

The meeting was also attended by area Women Representative Gladys Wanga, Rosa Buyu (Kisumu), Janet Ong'era (Kisii) and Pamela Odhiambo of Migori.

Sharon was found dead in Kodera Forest in Homabay last week after she was allegedly abducted in Rongo, Migori county Monday night.
