Auma on Thursday claimed that Sharon had a week prior escaped to Mwanza, Tanzania, to escape her tormentors who, she said, were pressuring her to abort her unborn baby.

In early August, she told the Standard, Sharon left for Tanzania, saying that she was no longer safe in Kenya, and returned roughly a week before her murderers struck.

"Sharon woke up one morning and told me she wanted to go to Tanzania because she was no longer safe in Kenya. She didn't tell me who was threatening her life," she is quoted.

There, Ms Auma added, she stayed for about a week and switched her phones off all through the duration, apparently to avoid being tracked down.

"She travelled to Mwanza by road. While there, she switched off her phones to prevent anyone from reaching her," she is further quoted.

Sharon's abduction in Rongo town, Migori county and murder three weeks ago reportedly followed two other botched attempts to eliminate her.

Her lifeless body was later found in a thicket near Oyugis town in Homabay County.

She was seven months pregnant at the time of her death, with pathologists reports showing that she was stabbed numerous times, several blows penetrating into her womb.
