Obado is being held in connection to the death of slain Rongo University Student Sharon Beryl Otieno who was murdered early this month in suspected love gone sour scenario.

Migori's county cabinet now wants residents to remain calm following the detention of Governor Obado who is set to appear in court on Monday to answer to charges of murder.

A statement read by the county's Lands CEC Elijah Odhiambo on behalf of the cabinet asked residents to remain calm as the judicial process continues.

"The cabinet would like to thank the people of Migori for remaining calm for the past two weeks. Today, the governor was invited to the DCI office to record a statement but we later got information that he had been detained and will be presented to court on Monday," Odhiambo was quoted by the Nation releasing the statement on Friday.

He added "We call upon the people of Migori to remain calm and allow the judicial process to take its course. Government operations will continue uninterrupted. We request the investigating agencies and the judiciary to expedite the matter. We ask that this process is not politicised.”

Governor Obado was detained on Friday after DNA tests confirmed that he was the father to Sharon's unborn child. Investigations by the DCI reveal that he was at the scene of the murder in Homa Bay County.
