A second-year student has allegedly murdered his fourth-year colleague at Moi University in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

Felix Ochieng' is said to have been stabbed to death by the suspect outside F2 Club located at the university's Talai Market Centre on Saturday morning.

An eye witness who confided to this writer due to the sensitivity of the matter said the deceased had accused the suspect of attempting to steal his phone prior to the 3.00am incident.

“The fourth-year guy raised alarm claiming that the second year student had tried to steal his phone. As a result, people began beating up the former. Lucky for the guy, some of his friends came and rescued him from the mob justice,” the witness stated.

The source revealed that it is after being rescued, that the second-year student took advantage of the calming situation to ambush the deceased and stabbed him severally.  

"The victim died instantly while the suspect disappeared in the chaotic crowd," the source said.

The eye witness also gave a partial description of the suspect as being dark-skinned, medium in height and that he wore a black T-shirt during the incident.

Interestingly enough, that was not the first time the suspect had found himself in trouble during the same night.

A lady who is a friend to the eye witness had earlier on accused him of trying to disturb her.

“When he was being beaten, one of my friends came and told me that he had actually tried to make inappropriate advances at her earlier on,” the eye witness revealed.

The unidentified suspect fled the scene immediately after the crime and he is still at large.  

Police moved the body from the scene of crime.

They have launched a manhunt on the culprit.
