Maternal health champion and founder of Still A Mum Africa Wanjiru Kihusa has offered support to Rebecca Atieno, the woman who gave birth at Uhuru Park.
Kihusa has since come up with a pay bill number to support Atieno and has urged Kenyans of good will to take part in the exercise by donating funds.
"My office is putting together this list in a poster with details of the pay bill and office location. I will share it as soon as it's done so you can also share with friends," tweeted Kihusa.
She further outlined in her tweets the short term and long term needs that need to be fulfilled for the young mother. The short term needs include clothes for the mum and baby, baby diapers and other baby items.
According to Kihusa, some of the long term needs include a home as well as a job that will enable Atieno to cater to her baby's needs.
Atieno is a form four leaver and was working as a waitress before she lost her job.
Kihusa further revealed that Atieno was discharged from hospital after her medical bills were settled by a well-wisher who sought anonymity.
She is currently being hosted by a good samaritan in Rongai and the baby is doing fine.
