For close to two hours on Tuesday at his Capitol Hill offices, Raila hosted a delegation from Migori amid sharp differences with the embattled governor.

A source privy to the meeting says Mr Odinga asked the leaders to treat Obado as one of their own since he's a 'nice man'.

"He asked Migori leaders to work closely with Obado to spur growth, adding that the governor is a good man. He said the ideological differences can be solved if they sit down and talk.

"He also asked the leaders to tolerate him despite his defiance to the party," said the source, adding that Odinga is only concerned with development in the region.

Lately, the Migori County boss has been working with Raila's political nemesis William Ruto, a move that has not gone well with a section of ODM leaders across the country.

Mr Obado, who is also facing two murder charges in court, was again arrested on Wednesday for allegedly illegal possession of eight firearms.

EACC raided his Migori and Nairobi homes and besides the guns, crucial documents that could give a lead to the suspected loss of Sh2 billion were recovered.
