Residents of Ibeno village in Borabu, Nyamira County were left in a rude shock after a 4-month-old baby boy was dumped in a pit latrine
Confirming the incident, Manga chief Charles Karaya, said the owner of the homestead where the baby was dumped heard him crying in the toilet and raised alarm.
"Residents retrieved the baby from the toilet and rushed him to hospital for treatment buthe died on arrival at Nyamira County hospital," said the chief.
Mr Karaya said the woman who dumped the baby is yet to be identified.
"Probe has commenced to know who dumped the baby in the toilet. Anyone with information about the woman who dumped her child in the toilet should report to ease arrest," he added.
The chief wondered why the unknown woman can carry pregnancy for 9 months, give birth and dumped babies.
"Residents including me are in shock following the incident which has never happened here before. Women should stop conceiving pregnancy and end up dumping babies once they give birth," he stated.
He said the body of the baby was moved to Nyamira county hospital morgue.
