For weeks now, a section of Rift Valley leaders have accused Uhuru of hiding in lifestyle audit to 'bring down' his deputy ahead of 2022 polls.

Led by Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni, the leaders dared Ruto to publicly declare his wealth if at all he is serious with presidential bid.

"The president should assert his authority or we help him do so. He should not allow busybodies blackmail him," said Mogeni.

He added: "Those who fear lifestyle audit should just resign. They cannot hide in tribesmen to intimidate the president."

While delivering speech during the burial of Migori senator Ben Oluoch, ODM chairman John Mbadi asked Uhuru to be bold and take step against his deputy.

"The president has our backing and he should now ask him (Ruto) to declare his wealth. Days of blackmail are long over."

Similar sentiments were echoed by several speakers among them Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi.

In an interview at NTV on Sunday, Ruto insisted that he is ready for lifestyle audit despite seemingly suggesting that it was witch hunt.
