“We are eagerly waiting for her remains to arrive here so that we get the chance to pay her our last respect, this was a very sad incident and the government must pursue the criminals to the latter, " said Mathews Owino, a resident of Asembo Bay.

Logistical arrangements are complete and a number of dignitaries including human rights activists are expected to attend the requiem mass.

Speaking to the media in Nairobi on Thursday, her mother Hannah Kathathi confirmed that burial arrangements are being finalised at the Dandora Justice Center.

Another requiem mass was held at the Dandora Catholic Church on Thursday mid-morning and now the final send-off ceremony for the late Mwatha will take place on Saturday in Asembo Bay village, Siaya County.

The remains of Mwatha are expected to be flown to Siaya County and as the Luo culture dictates, she will be laid to rest in her husband’s father's home on Saturday.

It is said that Mrs. Mwatha bled to death due to an injury on her uterus.

That is according to a postmortem contacted on her body last week. She had gone missing on February 6 and her corpse found later at the city mortuary in Nairobi.
