Man in trouble for allegedly stabbing pregnant wife to death

A man was arraigned before a Mandera Court to answer to charges of allegedly stabbing his wife leading to death.

Mr Feisal Ibrahim Yussuf was being accused of allegedly stabbing his wife, Ms Uba Hassan Allow on July 7, this year in Mandera town.

Ms Hassan who suffered a fractured kidney died while undergoing treatment at Mandera County Referral Hospital on Sunday morning.

The court heard that the accused person went into hiding after stabbing his wife in the stomach but was arrested by police officers on Sunday after a tip off from the public.

Mr Johnes Nyagige, a criminal investigation officer told the court that they needed more time to carry out further investigation into the incident.

“The victim in this matter succumbed to injuries inflicted on her by the said respondent who ran away after the heinous act but was arrested in his hideout,” said Mr Nyagige as quoted by Nation. 

Mandera Senior Resident Magistrate Peter Areri granted the application to give the police investigators more time to conclude their investigations.

Magistrate Areri ordered that the accused person will remain in police custody for seven days at Mandera Police Station before he is formerly charged.

The case will be heard on July 18.
