The institution run by the Catholic church was closed down after Machakos children's department obtained a court order with the help of the police.

The boys are said to have been sodomised and threatened by the cook who has been working in the institution for close to ten years.

The incident emerged a few weeks ago where one of the boys reported being sodomised by the cook. He said the cook used to entice them to the kitchen and before committing the act. He would later threaten them forcing them to keep quiet.

The cook is alleged to have threatened to deny the boys food if they breathed a word about the incident to anyone.

39 boys are housed at the children's home which also has a primary school wing.

The boys alleged to have been sodomised were taken to Machakos rescue centre and Remand home.

A medical examination at Machakos Level five hospital confirmed that the boy was indeed sodomised.

Investigations by police into the incident are ongoing.
