Mating’i announced the move on Thursday, May, 16.

In an apparent caution to what will happen, the CS asked the residents to prepare for ‘a major security operation targeting the criminal gang’.

The gang has been raiding homes at night and viciously attacking villagers.

Matiang’i also announced that a ring leader of the gang was nailed by police in Nairobi.

"The arrest of the suspect is a major breakthrough and we have already obtained information about other suspects on the run. We want to tell them that their days are numbered," said Matiang'i.

The said suspect is 20-year-old Kelson Lienga alias Kelvin Lienga who was arrested in Nairobi’s Kawangware slum.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations described Lienga as ‘one of the most wanted suspects in a series of robberies with violence dating back from 2017 to April this year’.

“Lienga was using three mobile phone lines that had a direct link with several gangs that have been reported in various police stations across the country for various crimes including defilement,” DCI said.
