Things seem to have remained calm at Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s quarters, despite his recent implication in the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Nothing embarrassing or negative has since emerged from his family, especially his spouse Helen Obado, even after publicly admitting that he had an extra-marital affair with the slain beauty.
And though the issue has most likely resulted to some disagreements and probably arguments between the two, as very few women would take it lightly after being cheated on, the wife has proven her worth and maturity by handling it in the best way in public.
Consequently, unlike in most scenarios where such incidents usually culminate to public spats and dramatic separations, Hellen has treated it in the best way and not allowed it to culminate into drama.
She has also remained cooperative and supportive to the Governor despite their family’s current hurdle, even flanging him in a recent press conference alongside their children. It is in the same press conference that he publicly admitted having had an affair.
This is a good impression, as though they might be having problems getting over the embarrassing issue, she has managed to keep their differences private.
This is both good for their political and private lives, as any sort of mistake would automatically subject the Governor to political bashing from his rivals and critics in the political arena.
This would undermine his leadership and position as a county chief, rendering him a laughing stock and taking away the respect and honour he deserves and enjoys from Kenyans, fellow governors and fellow political players.
On the others hand, it is as well a good demonstration to their children who, learning from them, can get a thing or two about how to handle their differences or such issues in the event that they come calling.
How they handle the issue going ahead remains their private task, but Helen has demonstrated her womanly qualities by handling the case in the best way possible.
