Mr Peter Tabichi, a teacher at a Nakuru School, was announced the winner of Sh100 million in a ceremony held at United Arab Emirates in March 2019. He was among the 10 finalists.

Governor John Nyagarama hailed him as a hero, whose success would inspire many generations to come, adding that the achievement would even 'challenge' his colleagues from Nyamira County.

"He is an inspiration and am happy to be his governor. Setting such a remarkable record is something that am happy of. I am sure that even his colleagues from Nyamira would aspire to reach his level. We are very proud," said Nyagarama, a former English teacher.

Tabichi was first ushered in State House by President Uhuru Kenyatta, who offered to give another Sh20 million to Tabichi's school in Nakuru. The money would be used to improve infrastructure.

For the Catholic brother, he says most of the money from the award will be used in educating less fortunate students. He teaches Physics and Maths at Kibiko secondary school.

"I am happy to be at home. I feel great and am excited too. I thank the governor for the warm welcome. It's pretty exciting. We shall continue to inspire the youths for ages to come," he noted.

He hails from Mokorong'osi village, Kemera ward. Before jetting to Dubai, a ceremony was held in his honour by area MCA George Morara. He started his teaching career in Kitutu Masaba constituency.
