The soldier who remains unidentified was seen saving Kenyans at a time when the DusitD2 was under the attack of Al Shabaab militants.

Kenyans and the media did not fail to spot the soldier who was heavily armed with two guns and a dagger and his face covered in a balaclava.

However, Mwaura on Saturday termed him just one of the many people who participated in the rescue mission and should not receive any special recognition.

"Kulikuwa watu wengi pale na si yeye pekee yake. Tusimsifu eti sababu ni mzungu tukabaki tukionekana wanyonge.

(Showering him with praise simply because he is white will make us seem week. He was not any special as we had many other rescuers at the scene)," said Mwaura.

The Jubilee Senator added that terrorism is an international issue and one person helping out should not be taken as a big deal since his nation might with time need help from others.

"Hizi no shida za kimataifa, asije Africa kujifanya hero (this is an international issue, let him not purport to be a hero in Africa)," he added.

Speaking to the People Daily on Friday, veteran SAS soldier Chris Ryan said that the officer was in the country to train Kenyan special forces was out shopping when he heard about the incident.

He then grabbed his gear and drove to the scene.
