Politicians allied to Jubilee had associated evictions with the handshake even as the government denied involvement of Raila Odinga.

But the Sunday Nation can explicitly report of a quagmire triggered by lack of finances to Building Bridges Initiative which was brokered by the two leaders.

Investigations show that Treasury could not release the funds thus triggering a crisis to the team led by Senator Yusuf Haji.

Early this month, a corruption conference organised by the team working on the programme was cancelled after it emerged that treasury had not facilitated the team.

In August 2nd, a preliminary report was handed to Raila, who is said to have briefed his other principal, President Uhuru.

While Treasury was non committal on the process, State House also referred to the Finance department which is yet to respond though.

“The only place you can get that information is the State House since this is a presidential initiative,” Interior Spokesman Mwenda Njoka said.

Acting State House spokesperson Kanze Dena added: "Ambassador Kimani Martin will be of help. That’s his domain.”

This even comes at the time Raila is exuding confidence in his decision to work with the president.

At Kisii on Saturday, Raila urged Kenyans to embrace the initiative adding that he's ready to accommodate DP William Ruto.

"We cannot use same ways to handle a problem. Sometimes we must use our brains," he said.

Ruto is said to be opposed to the initiative with his allies openly claiming that it will thwart his 2022 presidential chances.
