Singing is a way of passing information, sentiments and as many singers say it's a way of escaping to another world.
Songs range with the genre, and every person has his or her own taste when it comes to music.
In Kamba land, there is quite a number of secular musicians popularly known as 'benga artists' who try to make their people feel at home with their music.
However, there are some of them who have chosen to stick to their 'dirty' and 'vulgar' lyrics which you wouldn't dare utter before your kid or senior.
Here is a list of Kamba secular musicians whose music would be considered dirty.
1. Dennis Mbithi
He is popularly known as Muenjoy wa kathambi.
The artist who hails from Ndalani in Yatta, Machakos County came to the limelight in 2011 after releasing his song 'vuisya Ungu', which means 'you wouldn't want to tell out loud'.
2. Alphonse Kioko
This musician is known to his fans as Maima.
Alphonse who hails from Kithungo in Makueni County is popularly known as 'maima' due to his tendency of incorporating the term at the end of his lyrics.
The Kenya Films classification board CEO Ezekiel Mutua in 2016 banned these Kamba singers with obscene stage names.
Mutua said these singers' stage names are proof of how the society is rotten.
"You hear someone calling himself MAIMA (holes), (VUUSYA UUNGU (touch bottom) WAKATIMBA( behind) and you just think what is the society getting to," he said.
He warned bar owners and those operating Public Service Vehicles that anyone found playing the songs from the three artists will be prosecuted.
Mutua said the songs are disrespectful and demean women.
