The former president's son Jonathan Toroitich Moi died in Nakuru county on Friday, in what has been reported as another death caused by the cancer menace.

In a tweet on Saturday, the lawmaker expressed his deep sorrow and sadness on hearing about Jonathan's departure, wishing Moi's family strength at this tough time.

"I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing on of Jonathan Moi. To my brother Gideon, I pray that God will grant you and the family strength at this difficult moment. My most sincere condolences," she wrote.

Jonathan, who was a sportsman and a legendary rally driver, has as well been hailed by a good number of political leaders as a great man.

Those who have sent in their messages of condolence include President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, opposition boss Raila Odinga and Chief Justice David Maraga.

Unlike his father and younger brothers Gideon (Baringo Senator) and Raymond (Rongai MP), Jonathan was not lucky politically, as his two attempts to win the Eldama Ravine parliamentary seat were both futile.
