Uasin Gishu politician Zedekiah Kiprop popularly known as Buzeki has spoken barely a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta handed him a government job.

In a gazette notice dated September 20, 2018, the president appointed Buzeki as the chairman of the Chemilil Sugar Company Limited.

Reacting to the appointment, Buzeki who unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2017 polls said he was ready to take up his new role.

"I want to thank president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for appointing me as the Chemilil Sugar Company Board chairman. I promise to do my best and I will not let them down," he said in Eldoret town, Saturday.

The billionaire businessman pledged that he will discharge his duties to the best of his knowledge for the betterment of the sugar company.

 "I will use all the experience I have gained to improve the management and the livelihoods of sugar farmers from the region," he said.

Buzeki further promised to work with all stakeholders in the sugar Industry to ensure that sugar farmers earn from their sweat.

The politician who made it clear that he will be vying for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in 2022 will serve in his new position for the next three years.
