Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo has come to the defence of his successor, Governor Ferdinand Waititu.

This comes after Waititu on Sunday opposed the ongoing demolition of buildings on riparian land in Nairobi, saying the move was hurting investors.

Waititu argued that the government should instead ask the building owners to cater for the cost of diverting the rivers.

"I personally don't support the demolition of rivers. Let them investigate and if they find out your house is close to the river, then you should be told it is your responsibility to make sure that the river is moved a bit. Otherwise, demolishing houses is not a solution, honestly speaking it is such a big loss," said Waititu.

Waititu's remarks elicited mixed reactions among Kenyans, with a section of them arguing that the governor's proposal was unrealistic.

Kabogo, however, defended Waititu, saying he is entitled to his own opinion.

The flamboyant politician was responding to a tweet by lawyer Nelson Havi in which he attacked Waititu over his stand on the ongoing demolitions.
