ODM leader Raila Odinga reportedly asked former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar to join in the efforts to rally for peace among Kenyan communities, it has emerged.

For close to two hours, Odinga also seized the opportunity to explain to Omar, who had dumped NASA few weeks after controversial August 8th polls in 2017, about the Building Bridges Initiative and the contribution by Coast to the initiative.

"It was more or a brotherly meeting. Raila explained to him the reason why he joined forces with the president and the need to restore peace in Kenya.

"He also asked him to work closely with Governor Hassan Joho to bolster growth in the coastal county," said Philip Nyamai, an aide at Capitol Hill.

Raila's decision to back Joho's reelection was part of the reasons why Omar ditched NASA in a shocking political decision last year.

In most of the rallies that the two appeared, Raila always referred to Omar as his 'political son' and predicated his comeback even after fallout.
