Speaking on KTN's 'Point Blank', Ruto confirmed behind the scenes engagements that could shape 2022 presidential politics.

"As of now, William Ruto is doing his politics, I am doing mine, Gideon Moi is doing his. The only issue is that we talk quite a bit with Gideon Moi... We are talking," the former governor said.

He spoke amid concerns that the Rift Valley vote may be split in 2022, concerns fueled by the perception that Deputy President William Ruto, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and himself are all going to run.

He said that his party had no problem with Ruto, who has expressed interest in running for the presidency in 2022.

Last week, the former governor addressed members of his party and announced plans to strengthen CCM, to ensure it had national appeal, saying that he was ready to work with like-minded parties.

CCM was part of the National Super Alliance (NASA) but bailed out after veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga failed to capture the presidency in the hotly-contested 2017 presidential election.
