Nairobi has an approximate population of four million people who reside and do business in the city.

The high population has seen prices for rental houses increase sharply.

It is difficult to get a decent house that is pocket-friendly in most parts of the city.

Here are the four places in Eastlands where rental houses are affordable.

1. Embakasi

Rental houses in Embakasi are affordable and you will not miss out getting a decent house for a friendly price.

Rental houses in places like Pipeline, Tassia I and II in Embakasi are cheap.

A one-bedroom house ranges from Sh7, 000 to Sh11,000, a bedsitter goes for Sh 6, 000 and a single room for Sh 2, 500 per month.

The houses in this area are well designed and classy.

2. Kayole

In Kayole rental houses are also affordable.

A one-bedroom house goes for between Sh6,500 and Sh8,000.

A bedsitter goes for between Sh5000 and Sh5, 500 while a single room goes for between Sh 3,000 and Sh3,500.

3. Umoja

Rental houses are also pocket-friendly in Umoja with a one-bedroom house going for between Sh6,500and Sh7,500, a bedsitter  Sh4,500 and a single room for Sh2,500.

4. Mbotela

In Mbotela, rental houses are also cheap with majority of residents said to be civil servants who earn lowly.

Majority of these areas have adequate facilities including schools, churches, mosques, supermarkets and entertainment joints.

However the challenge that faces majority of the Eastlands areas is water scarcity.

These areas experience massive water rationing.
