Speaking at a Church event in Dogoretti South constituency on Sunday, Kiunjiri said Ruto, who is considered to be the front runner in the race for the presidency in 2022, deserves the support of voters from the region.

He said leaders from the region opposed to Ruto’s rule were misled and ill-advised.

Kiunjuri also said Ruto stood with President Uhuru Kenyatta when he needed him most, adding that he will not regret the decision any time soon.

The CS compared the friendship between Uhuru and Ruto to that of two hunters who united to defeat a leopard.

“Good is paid by good. There is no way a friend will rescue you from a leopard and then let that friend be eaten by the same leopard,” Kiunjuri said as quoted by the Standard.

The statement of the CS comes after the security detail of Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waituti, Nakuru senator Susan Kihika and MPs Kimani Ichungwa and Alice Wahome were withdrawn.

The leaders have been on the forefront in backing DP Ruto amid Uhuru’s warning against early campaigns before 2022.

They opine that the newfound love between Uhuru and ODM leader Raila Odinga is meant to block Ruto from rising to power.
