Uasin Gishu politician and former gubernatorial hopeful Zedekiah Bundotich, popularly known as Buzeki, has opened up on the person he will back for the presidency in the approaching 2022 general polls.
In an interview on Radio Maisha early Tuesday, Buzeki who unsuccessfully vied for the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial seat in the 2017 general elections threw his weight behind Deputy President William Ruto.
Terming him a hardworking and skilled leader, Buzeki noted that Ruto is indeed a frontrunner in the race, and has all the needed support and qualifications to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
‘’Kulingana na mambo yalivyo sasa, Ruto ameonyesha bidii na ndiye aliye bora zaidi kushinda urais 2022 (he is currently among the frontrunners and has all it takes to win the seat),’’ he said.
The billionaire businessman personally pledged to back Ruto’s candidature, terming his the choice of not only most members of the Kalenjin community but Kenyans from around the whole nation as well.
‘’Mimi mwenyewe nitamuunga. Sisi kama jamii pia tumemmchagua kama kiongozi wetu na japo huenda wengine wengi wakajitokeza, yeye ndiye sure bet.
(I will personally back him on top of the fact that he is our community’s chosen one. Ruto is the sure bet even in the event that others emerge to vie for the same post),’’ he added.
Ruto is most likely to vie on the ruling Jubilee Party ticket in the much-anticipated contest.
