The self-proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader, who is currently in Canada, said that Uhuru’s decision to leave the country on Saturday to attend the 32nd Heads of State and Governments Summit of the African Union will not benefit Kenyans.

He alluded that the meeting is meant to elect a dictator to represent the voice of the people.

Miguna said that the leaders are meeting to elect Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, who he alleged overthrow his predecessor Mohamed Morsi.

“African tyrants are heading to Addis Ababa to "elect" Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, an authoritarian military dictator who overthrew the democratically-elected Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi, as the chairman of the African Union. Africa was never truly decolonized. We must do it now,” he said.

Uhuru, who was accompanied by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta, left the country after Deputy President William Ruto jetted back from London, United Kingdom.

Ruto was forced to cancel a scheduled meeting with Kenyans living in the diaspora to fly into the country before Uhuru’s departure.

Ruto's quick return was meant to ensure that both the President and Deputy are not out of the country at the same time.

Miguna has been calling upon Kenyans to resist what he terms as oppressive rule since he was deported.
