Ms Waiguru, who returned to Raila's Capitol Hill offices on Wednesday, also said that she will work closely with Mr Odinga to strengthen devolution due to the latter's immense knowledge on devolved systems of governance.

A statement released by Raila's spokesman Dennis Onyango indicated that the two leaders agreed to let their past strained relationship be, adding that they will push together for prosecution of masterminds of NYS season one.

"Raila Odinga and the Governor of Kirinyaga County Ms Anne Waiguru held a meeting this afternoon and agreed to put aside differences that arose from the loss of funds at the National Youth Service during the first Jubilee regime.

"Ms. Waiguru was the Cabinet Secretary in the ministry when the scandal erupted in the first Jubilee regime. After a meeting at Hon Odinga’s Capitol Hill offices, the two leaders announced that they had agreed to “let by-gones be by-gones” and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators.

"Ms Waiguru said her case against Mr Odinga is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on. The two leaders also reviewed the status of devolution in the country and agreed to exchange views frequently on how to address the challenges," read the statement.

Leaders from Mt Kenya have lately been holding closed door meetings with Mr Odinga, whose fate in 2022 elections remains quite unclear after landing a job at African Union in October.

But President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent remarks that hints a possible break away from partnership with his deputy William Ruto has raised questions about his MOU with Raila Odinga.

At Nyeri, Uhuru lectured area politicians in what was interpreted as his concerns over their continued working relationship with Ruto, which some of his handlers have rebuked openly.

Raila is said to be working closely with Mt Kenya leaders in preparation for 2022 even though he has repeatedly denied the claims.
