Ruto has been having it rough from critics lately, with his bid dismissed by among others, COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli and former Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe.

Anyonka argues the DP is ripping the fruits of his confrontational mode of politicking, which he said has seen him offend many notable figures in the process.

"Ruto amekuwa akichokoza watu na sasa wanaona haangalii sehemu zote ila anajiangalia tu (Ruto has provoked a lot of people, some of whom are now of the opinion that he only thinks about himself and not the nation)," said the analyst during an interview on Radio Maisha's 'Bunge La Maisha', Tuesday morning.

He also defended Atwoli's remarks that the DP will not even be on the ballot come 2022.

The COTU boss made the remarks about a fortnight ago while in Lamu county.

"Huenda Atwoli aliona Ruto hatakuwa na uwezo wa kuwania. Tukumbuke kwamba yeye halindwi kisheria dhidi ya kufikishwa mahakamani, huenda Atwoli aliona shutuma za ufisadi dhidi yake zitamfikisha kortini. (Atwoli probably predicted a situation where Ruto will not be in a position to run for the presidency and must have considered his many implications in corruption, considering that he is not constitutionally protected from prosecution)," he noted.

Ruto's bid has also been dismissed by politicians allied to the opposition, and a section of rival Jubilee Party lawmakers under the tag 'Kieleweke'.
