Opposition leader Raila Odinga is obviously on his way out of the active political arena, judging by his growing age.

The 73-year-old veteran politician is also grappling with the embarrassment of repeated election losses in his longtime presidential ambition and will soon, probably after the 2022 general elections, be hanging his boots.

But who is the man whose feet are big enough to fit into the father of second liberation’s boots and who will he leave his Luo political kingship post to?

Though Siaya Senator James Orengo has been considered the best for the post, the super Lawyer is least prepared for such a task and has never, at any point, done anything to prove his suitability.

This leaves only one person in the picture; National Resistance Movement (NRM) leader Miguna Miguna, a bulky fellow who even risked it all to organize and spearhead Odinga’s January 30 mock Presidential coronation in Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

He ensured all the threats by the ruling Jubilee Party and turned a deaf ear on claims that the same would amount to treason which is punishable by death.

Miguna has already shown his interest for the seat by taking Raila head-on, and condemning him whenever he deems fit. This is the right way to go because you cannot beat a person you cannot face.

His regular attacks on the ruling Uhuruto duo is proof of his willingness to go to any extent to defend what he feels is right , further portraying him as a person who cannot be threatened or coerced into swallowing his words while fighting for his people.

He has also taken up  the opposition leader role at a time when Odinga has seemingly been absorbed into the government, with the other team led by Ekuru Aukot being nowhere to be seen.

Miguna has managed to keep the government on toes and raise his concerns from exile in Canada, and has remained adamant and fearless as he fights for the rights of not only the Luo, but the entire nation.

He has done his part and Kenyans, specifically the Great Luo Nyanza region, are the witnesses and will give him the top seat upon the lapse of Odinga’s tenure.
