The lawmaker is accusing the CS of incompetence with regards to his alleged subjection of Kenyan traders to unfair competition from their Chinese counterparts.

Speaking in Kiambu recently, the MP accused the CS of allowing importation of eggs and fish into the country, hence victimising local traders.

"The president should fire the CS for incompetence and failing to protect local traders from the Chinese. The Chinese are now even importing fish and eggs which are available locally," he said.

He said the move has had a negative impact on the local market and to some extent has led to suicides as traders who owe banks loans fall into depression after their businesses collapse.

The vocal parliamentarian vowed to convene a mega meeting with egg readers in Thika Stadium soon to chat the way forward as he seeks to push the Head of State into fulfilling his demand.

"I will convene a meeting with egg traders in Thika Stadium soon because this thing is now even resulting to suicide among small traders who are having it hard repaying their loans," he added.

Kuria expressed similar sentiments in a Facebook post on Sunday, where he faulted the CS for classifying imported phone covers as counterfeit products while allowing the importation of fish and eggs, which are readily available in the local market.

This comes days after egg traders in Kiambu took to the streets to demonstrate against the entry of imported eggs into the local market.

The imported eggs retail at Sh200 per tray, one hundred shillings less than the local ones.
