Following the torrid moments experienced by a section of Jubilee leaders whose security details were recalled on Friday, Kisii-based politician Don Bosco Gichana has supported the move.

Bosco says that MPs and Senators should not be assigned any security detail.

He spoke shortly after the MPs, allied to Deputy President William Ruto had their security detail recalled on Friday.

In his post on his Facebook page, Bosco said the MPs and Senators should not be assigned security guards because it is a waste of resources guarding the leaders against the people who voted for them.

“If you ask me, I would suggest MP's, Senators should not be assigned Bodyguards. It's a waste of resources protecting yourself from the very people you represent. Many countries MP's or equivalent are not assigned bodyguards including neighbouring Tanzania. I know of Many MPs who don't even use their bodyguards assigned to them," Bosco posted.

The apparent withdrawal of the security detail of MPs Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu), Alice Wahome (Kandara), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) and Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika has been castigated by a section of Jubilee MPs.

They say this is a move to cow them to stop their public support of DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

Police spokesperson Charles Owino, however, refuted claims that the security detail attached to the MPs had been withdrawn.

Owino said that it was procedural to have reshuffles.
