Barely two month after assuming office in 2016, Chief Justice David Maraga shocked mourners in Nyaronde upon the arrival of Raila Odinga.
On arrival at the funeral to George Kegoro's mother, Maraga had walked for at least 5 kilometres interacting with locals.
And when he took seat, ODM leader Raila Odinga, accompanied with his brother Oburu arrived at the venue.
Unfortunately, all seats had been occupied with organisers now forced to make urgent decision.
Noticing the situation, Maraga forfeit his seat to Raila and could be heard referring him to as 'Your Excellency'.
But a calm Raila joyfully congratulated Maraga and asked him to sit.
During his speech, Raila described Maraga as a 'God fearing' man who could restore confidence in the judiciary.
He cracked jokes on how Maraga, a president of the Judiciary, had honoured him despite being a "mere opposition leader".
