This comes after Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti dismissed an application in which the politician sought to have the charges levelled against him withdrawn.

The case will now proceed to the hearing stage after Magistrate Ogoti on Monday said the charges meet the threshold required by the law to have him prosecuted.

The magistrate noted that the former county boss failed to present to the court sufficient evidence that could lead to the dropping of the case.

The directors of companies accused of unlawfully receiving money from City Hall were also dealt a blow after the court dismissed their application to be charged separately.

In his application, the former county boss claimed that the companies had conspired to ensure he is charged over crimes he did not commit.

He argued that the charges had been clumped together to make him appear corrupt which was not the case.

The county boss has been charged with conspiracy to commit an offence of corruption alongside former Chief Finance Officer Jimmy Mutuku and former Nairobi County Secretary Lilian Ndegwa who both served during his tenure in government.

The three have been linked to the loss of Sh213 million as City Hall.

Through lawyer James Orengo, Kidero has maintained that he did not misuse his position as alleged. The county boss is expected to appear in court on May 6, 2019.
