Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago is serving his last term and already his seat is tipped to attract a strong battle among several high-profile politicians among them billionaire businessman Zedekiah Bundotich Buzeki and Kenyan Abasoror to Pakistan Julius Bitok. The two who are seen as frontrunners to succeed Mandago unsuccessfully vied for the county’s top seat in 2017 and 2013 respectively.

Even as those eyeing the gubernatorial seat strategize ahead of the 2022 polls, these two Members of Parliament might be assured of their re-election into the 13th parliament;

Oscar Sudi

Politics in Kenya is mostly about loyalty and this is what will reward the Kapseret MP. Uasin Gishu residents are eager to help Deputy President William Ruto rise to the presidency and Sudi’s loyalty to him is one of its own. At this time, Ruto is experiencing a strong wave of opposition from some MPs from the North Rift region but Sudi has been at the forefront of fighting for the self-proclaimed hustler. For this reason, he will be rewarded by his constituents.

Dr Swarup Mishra.

The Kesses MP has been able to win the hearts of residents despite not being a native. Personally, I would rate him as the best performing MP in Uasin Gishu. Mishra has empowered his constituents. Health through his experience in the field has been boosted, Education through funds and scholarships for the needy and economic empowerment are some of what Kesses residents have benefited from Mishra’s regime. Any politician from this region hoping to compete with Mishra should give it a second thought.
