Two Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidates have been sentenced to one-year probation after being found guilty of theft.
The two were on Thursday found guilty of stealing two mobile phones from their invigilator and a police officer while sitting their KCSE examinations.
Appearing before Thika Resident Magistrate Kyanya Nyamori, the court was told that the Thika Heights Academy students committed the offence on November 6, 2018.
According to the prosecution, the duo stole an Infinix Note 5 phone valued at Sh18, 000 from Eunice Wanjiku and a Sh10,000 Tecno N65 handset from Hassan Gabow.
According to Citizen Digital, the two went into hiding after committing the offence. They, however, were identified by their colleagues and arrested and later returned the stolen gadgets.
The gadgets were presented before the court as evidence. The students pleaded guilty and begged the court to forgive them.
Meanwhile, an invigilator at the same school was also arraigned in court over allegations of tampering with examination papers, further reports the Citizen Digital.
