Speaking during an interview on NTV on Tuesday, Midiwo said the claim that four Cabinet Secretaries were plotting to eliminate the second in command doesn’t add up.

The former lawmaker said the mentioned Cabinet Secretaries; Joe Mucheru (ICT),  Peter Munya (Trade), Sicily Kariuki (Health), and James Macharia (Transport) cannot do such an act as alleged by the DP.

"I am not believing the story because I know Sicily Kariuki, I know Munya, I know Mucheru. I don’t know them to be evil. And I also know that if you wanted to kill somebody, you would not have cabinet secretaries doing it. So in my view, its William's way of trying to rejuvenate. He is trying to regain lost ground," he said in part.

On Monday, the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti confirmed receiving a phone call from the DP claiming that four Cabinet Secretaries were plotting a move against him.

Following the claims, three Cabinet Secretaries appeared before the DCI on Monday to shed more light on the allegations.

Addressing the media outside the DCI offices, the Cabinet Secretaries termed the allegations as unfounded.

"These are very serious allegations especially coming from the person of the stature of the deputy president occupying an extremely powerful and important office in this land.

"I think it is irresponsible, unfair and intended to portray us in a very bad light so that we look like criminals who meet to plot criminal activities against him. It is also intended to injure our reputation as law abiding citizens," Munya said on behalf of the group.
