Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has dismissed reports that he had written a letter of resignation to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi.

This comes after a section of the media on Thursday reported that the vocal politician had resigned as Gatundu South MP.

Responding to the reports, Kuria faulted the media house for misreporting facts, threating to take legal action.

“The Star team has just reported its own things. The company should be prepared to face the law. I am demanding compensation for the losses,” said Kuria.

Speaking during a press briefing at Parliament building, the MP said he had received death threats following his New Year's Eve remarks regarding development in Central Kenya. He, however, noted that he had reported the matter to the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

"I trust that this will put an end to the subtle and not too subtle threats to my life from opportunists, details of which I shared with DCI George Kinoti, a man of capabilities and patriotism who is doing everything possible to investigate the same," said Kuria in the statement.

He further apologised to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Mt Kenya governors for insinuating the region was underdeveloped.

"I have keenly listened to leaders like Governor Waititu, Waiguru, Kimemia, Kiraitu and Wa Iria. They are of the view that their counties are developed. I apologise to them for insinuating that there is no development in their counties," he added.

He also declared support for the Building Bridges Initiative, which he noted should be used to resolve "historical injustices on resource sharing and skewed representation".
