ODM party leader Raila Odinga has sharply differed with his elder brother Oburu Oginga, after the latter claimed that he (Raila) will run for the presidency during the 2022 general elections.
Speaking during the burial of Shinyalu MP Kizito Mugali's brother in Kakamega County on Saturday, Oburu told mourners that Raila will run for president again in 2022.
“In my opinion Raila will still run for president. He still has a lot of energy. Some people are saying that Raila is old. How can he be old yet Oburu is not old?” paused Dr Oburu.
However, Raila who also attended the burial differed with Oburu there and then.
“That is his opinion. I have not said anything about 2022. We agreed with President Uhuru Kenyatta that we do not speak about 2022. I have not said that I will run for president in 2022,” said Raila.
A section of leaders from ODM have on various occasions said that Raila will vie for presidency in 2022, but the former Prime Minister has maintained that he will not speak about 2022.
