Roba says that the referendum debate is a waste of time and a plot to derail development in the country.

Speaking in Mandera Town on Sunday, Roba said that elected leaders must stop debating the referendum and focus on serving their electorate.

He said that Kenyans are yearning for service delivery which their leaders must provide instead of engaging in idle debates.

“Elected leaders should stop these idle debate and settle down to work for Kenyans,” he said.

Roba said that they will not allow the referendum debate to hinder development.

“As North Eastern leaders, we have vowed to reject any push to amend the  2010 constitution” he added.

Roba said that those pushing to amend the 2010 constitution have ill motives.

“We hear they want to scrap some counties and merge others, we will not allow that to happen,” he added.

Governor Roba said that the country is not ready for referendum.

The debate on whether to amend or not to amend the 2010 has heated up.

Majority of politicians across the divide are supporting the referendum.

Other leaders among them Garissa Township MP Aden Duale are opposing the plebiscite push.
