Matiang'i was on Tuesday named the Chairperson of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee, putting him above his colleagues in the cabinet.

The move has been largely observed as a political attempt by President Uhuru Kenyatta to tame his deputy who has been crisscrossing the nation purporting to be supervising government development projects.

But in an exclusive Interview on Citizen Television Wednesday morning, Mudavadi said that the move is in no way aimed at the DP, but is one way Uhuru is using to achieve more before his retirement.

He added that the move is legal and well spelt out in the constitution and appears like a technique being enforced to enhance smooth delivery of service to Kenyans, reports the Citizen Digital.

Matiang'i will henceforth oversee cabinet operations and will in turn report to the President, is the direct link between the two executive arms, a formation that seems to leave out the DP.

Until recently, Ruto seemed fully in charge of the development wing of government operations and was seen launching initiatives in different parts of the nation on almost a daily basis.

Matiang'i will be deputized by his National Treasury colleague Henry Rotich, with the remaining CSs coming below them as committee members.
