At Kapsabet on Sunday, a section of leaders led by Governor Stephen Sang challenged Uhuru to reciprocate Ruto's support in 2022.

"You excellency you said that you will handover to Ruto. He has been loyal to you and it will be important to back him in 2022," he said.

Rift Valley politicians have lately suspected mischief in Uhuru's handshake with Raila Odinga, with Ruto claiming that the former premier is targeting to kick him out of Jubilee.

But at Bomet on Tuesday, despite pressure from s section of local leaders led by Governor Joyce Laboso, Uhuru evaded the debate strategically, only focusing on development.

"As government,  we have a duty of delivering. We should now focus on delivering to people. Let's work first and the rest will follow later," he said.

Ruto has intensified campaigns across the country with a section of leaders close to President Uhuru accusing him of sabotaging the head of state's commitment in development.

But the DP, in a number of his campaigns, insists that his principal duty is to help the president deliver his agenda.
