Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria has publicly announced his reconciliation with the security team in Nakuru following a recent confrontation that saw him sustain injuries in the hands of police.
A few weeks ago, the Nakuru East MP engaged police in a tiff over the construction of Bodaboda shades in Pipeline estate in the outskirts of Nakuru town.
The confrontation between the police and the MP saw him arrested after he was accused of land grabbing by former Nakuru Mayor Mohammed Surraw.
Area Deputy Police Commander Kirunya Limbitu, said Gikaria resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer.
However, speaking on Wednesday during the official opening of the East Africa Community International E-Passport office in Nakuru, the legislator said he had forgiven officers who assaulted him while he was in police custody.
“CS Matiang’i I want to say I was not aware that there was a new OCPD and DCIO in Nakuru and that is why the confrontation came about. But I ask for forgiveness and I have forgiven those who assaulted me. I will also withdraw the case I had filed with IPOA, “said Gikaria.
Interior CS Dr Fred Matiang'i was the chief guest at the event.
Earlier while addressing at the same function, Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama had commended the Provincial administration and security team in Nakuru for maintaining order.
On a lighter note, Arama stated that Gikaria was the latest victim of police brutality.
“You know Gikaria is the latest victim but that was just a slight mess which will be rectified. As leaders, we shall continue to work closely with the police,” Arama noted.
Matiang’i on his part called on all elected leaders to ensure that they adhere to the law and respect the security team saying no one is above the law.
“Ours is very simple as a security team to show you the way, but if you deviate; we have no otherwise but to deal with you ruthlessly," reaffirmed Matiang'i.
