At a time Kwale County is slowly becoming the epicentre of ODM rebellion, a good a number of MPs from the region have swiftly shifted their political allegiance from the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to Deputy President William Ruto.
Ruto who has shown an insatiable appetite to make inroads in the region that has traditionally supported Raila, is slowly succeeding in his mission even as he lays the ground for the 2022 election where he is seen as the front-runner to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
With his charm offensive, all but one MP in the county has remained a true Raila servant even as she told off her colleagues who have shifted to DP's camp.
Kwale County Women Representative Zuleikha Hassan is the only lawmaker who has not shown any interest in shifting her political allegiance to Ruto despite the fact that all her colleagues who were elected on parties affiliated to the opposition outfit-NASA have made final decision-support the former Eldoret North MP.
With Raila facing an acid test in his bid to reverse Ruto gains in the region, Zuleikha will no doubt be his key cog in the execution of the mission which will no doubt be a daunting task.
But in the lawmaker, he has a true foot soldier who is equal to the task.
