A couple of weeks ago, Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe openly claimed that Mt. Kenya MPs had been banned from attending DP William Ruto's rallies by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

While addressing residents of Kisumu, Kuria sharply dismissed handshake critics adding that the country is not ready for early campaigns.

"I think only stupid man can criticise handshake, because it is not about politics. The handshake is something to be proud of and we should support it.

"Elections will come later. At the moment, let us live as brothers and focus on development," he said.

For months now, Kuria has been one of Mt. Kenya politician vehemently fronting Ruto's presidency before the crackdown by the president.

MPs allied to Ruto led by Kipchumba Murkomen have openly dismissed the handshake, an indication that the DP is not also happy with President Uhuru's move.
