Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi while speaking on Friday at a funeral in Majoge Basi, Bomachoge Chache said his association with DP Ruto has nothing to do with 2022 polls.

"I am not supporting DP Ruto's presidential bid as it is being claimed by my lazy political rivals. Ruto and I are leaders who must work together to serve the people," he noted.

Maangi defended himself before mourners saying politics based on political parties will derail development across the Gusii region.

He urged residents in Kisii and Nyamira Counties to allow their leaders to work as a team for the purpose of realizing development.

"Leaders whether in NASA or Jubilee must shelve their hard stance in politics to work and champion for development in Gusii region," he added.

According to Maangi, he should not crucified for associating with DP Ruto saying their closeness is due to politics.

"I am only close with DP Ruto because of development ideologies," he noted.
