The war of words between allies of Deputy President William Ruto and a section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders seems to be far from over.
It started when the Jubilee leaders launched a scathing attack on Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who is ODM deputy party leader, accusing him of drug trafficking.
As a result, the flamboyant county chief has sued Nandi Governor Stephen Sang and MPs Kimani Ichung'wah (Kikuyu), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) over the accusations.
The allegations have attracted the wrath of MPs allied to the Raila Odinga-led outfit who have accused Ruto of using his footsoldiers to fight their party boss.
Led by ODM director of elections Junet Mohamed, on Thursday they held a press conference where they fiercely defended the county boss saying claims that he was in alleged list of wanted drug barons were 'false and unfounded'.
But Ichung'wah has hit back at his counterparts accusing them of redirecting attention from war on drugs by launching 'Orange Drugs Movement'.
In a tweet on Friday, the second-time legislator said he had toured Mombasa where he had first-hand experience of the danger of drug abuse amongst the youth.
"I just got back to Nairobi from the coastal city of Mombasa. The drugs menace there is real. Please don’t destroy Kenya by diverting attention from the fight against narcotics using the recently launched Orange Drugs Movement choir. Lets save young innocent Kenyans," he said in a post addressed to Junet, who is also the National Assembly Minority Whip.
