Public toilets are found in major towns including Nairobi.
The toilets designed for male and female users often come in handy when nature unexpectedly calls.
However, some people or users misuse these important facilities making it hell for other people.
According to managers of these facilities especially in Nairobi, some of the things people do inside the public toilets are disgusting.
Here are 4 disgusting and weird things some Nairobians do inside public toilets:
1. Smoking
Geoffrey Mburu, a manager at one of the busiest public toilets in the city centre says that some clients end up smoking inside the toilets.
“While our laws are against smoking inside the toilets, but we end up finding used cigarette butts in the toilets,” he says.
2. Self-pleasure
Mburu says that cases of clients being caught self-pleasuring inside public toilets are common.
He says that the disgusting habit is common among men.
“It is often shameful and embarrassing to knock on a public toilet door and find a grown man masturbating for self-pleasure,” he adds.
3. Changing pads
Mr Mburu says the habit is common among women.
He, however, states that while it is not wrong for ladies to use public toilets to change menstrual pads, majority of them often leave the used pads on the floor.
“We encounter used pads lying on the floor of the toilets, something that is so shameful for people who do it,” he said.
4. Dumping fetus
Mr Mburu says that some women who abort their unborn babies use public toilets to dump the fetus.
“Sometimes we find live or dead fetus dumped in the toilets,” he said.
Mburu says that they are considering coming up with measures to ensure responsible use of public toilets in the city.
